Building AI skills across your organisation: a role-based approach

Why one-size-fits-all AI training falls short, and how to plan AI skills for leaders, business teams and technical staff in the UAE.

The UAE is investing in AI skills at every level. Public schools began introducing an AI curriculum from kindergarten to Grade 12 in the 2025–2026 academic year. In Dubai, the One Million Prompters initiative, launched in 2024, aims to train one million people in prompt engineering over three years. And with most of the UAE's working-age population now using AI, many employees already bring AI tools to work.

Using a chat assistant is a good start, but organisations get far more value when skills match roles. A finance manager, a software engineer and a board member need very different things from AI training.

Leaders

Leaders need to spot where AI creates value, weigh the risks and set direction. Useful topics include AI strategy and use-case prioritisation, how large language models work at a non-technical level, AI governance and regulation in the UAE, and leading organisational change.

Business teams

Most employees benefit from practical, tool-focused training: writing effective prompts, using AI assistants in everyday office tools, analysing data without coding, and using AI responsibly under the company's policy and the PDPL. Sector courses help teams in legal, finance, HR, healthcare or real estate apply AI to their own documents and workflows.

Technical teams

Developers, data specialists and IT teams need deeper skills: Python and data handling, machine learning, building applications with retrieval-augmented generation and AI agents, evaluating model quality, and deploying and monitoring AI in production, including on local infrastructure.

Making training stick

  • Start with a short skills assessment so each person joins at the right level.
  • Use your own documents, data and use cases in the exercises.
  • Pair training with a real project so new skills are used immediately.
  • Train internal champions who can support colleagues after the course.
